What to Expect

As a counsellor, my ultimate goal is to be able to teach you how to move through your life independently. I design my practice in a way that sets a client up to be able to “Graduate” from therapy. Typically, this is done in 12-15 sessions depending on how quickly we move through the process and what comes up along the way. Afterwards, you may wish to return for refreshers, an opportunity to de-stress by sharing the load that life builds up, or to work through specific challenges and build more tools.

I use a structured approach to guide the therapeutic journey so that each session stays focused, and you leave with a sense of direction in knowing what we are working towards. This will look different for each unique individual, but typically begins by creating a shared understanding of where you are starting from in your journey and building a framework for where you want to be.

We achieve this together by examining how you are currently operating in your world, and how you can be achieving the same results you seek in life while using less energy and incurring less stress. Then, we begin to build a framework of who you are to centre your internal compass. This is a process of asking questions, and taking the time to examine pieces of yourself that may have gone overlooked throughout your life. By organizing and making your sense of Self concrete, your compass begins to gain a sense of direction to guide you down a path that is relevant and unique to who you are. When life is focused on our values, we have healthy boundaries and there is a strong understanding of what motivates us we are able to live with more direction, energy and purpose while experiencing less stress and anxiety.

Along the way it becomes clear what tools could be useful in your life. With a person-centred approach we stay present in your journey so that as challenges arise we can create a clear plan on how to manage life’s barriers.
